Convicted and sent to death row, Roxie and another “Merry Murderess,” Velma Kelly, vie for the spotlight and the headlines, ultimately joining forces in search of the American Dream: Fame, Fortune, and Acquittal.

Changes made for the Teen Edition:

  • Removal of adult language and overtly sexual references

Grease

RISING STARS (Ages 7-12)

Join us for our fall semester production of the delightful and nostalgic musical Grease: School Version.

Grease: School Version is an abridged, family-friendly adaptation of the hit stage musical tailored for youth performers. It cuts about 15 minutes of original runtime and entirely removes profanity, lewd behavior, and Rizzo’s controversial storyline/song.

Key Modifications:

  • Lyric changes: words and phrases deemed inappropriate for school settings were rewritten in songs like “Summer Nights,” “Greased Lightnin’,” and “Beauty School Dropout.
  • Song deletions: in addition to Rizzo’s solo, certain verses across the score were trimmed for timing and content.
  • Core spirit: despite the edits, it retains all the iconic 1950s hits, high-energy dancing, and the beloved well-known plotline of good-girl Sandy and greaser Danny at Rydell High.
